Add ESP32 as Bluetooth Proxy

Use ESP32 as bluetooth proxy to connect to bluetooth speaker like Anker Soundcore or to extend the Bluetooth range that your server bluetooth adapter can reach. The bluetooth integration in HA is finnicky and didn’t work or at least it didn’t support the built-in bluetooth adapter on my ASUS TUF motherboard.

DO YOU KNOW

Bluetooth operate in hub and spoke (star) or centralized topology, so it has a limited radius. On the contrary, mesh network such as Thread that is used by Matter devices can extend the range as long as you chain those devices together

You can easily turn your ESP32 into a Bluetooth proxy by using

Open Google Chrome/Edge and visit https://esphome.io/projects/?type=bluetooth

Insert your ESP32 via USB and it will prompt you to select as serial port. Make sure to select the right one!

Configure WiFi

Add to HA.
