Appearance

Overview ​

Beatmania series uses spicetools as the game loader. Pretty easy to setup.

To find which updates goes to which game version, visit https://mon.im/bemanipatcher/ and click on a beatmania series.

The patch list will shows the date, which correspond to the date you see

Where to Download Updates? ​

The website here http://teknoparrot.link.free.fr/multi/Beatmania IIDX 28.html contains all the updates named according to the date. Unfortunately the listings is a bit messy and didn’t really mention which series an update belongs to. To check that, download any pack and extract it, then upload the modules/bm2dx.dll into bemani patcher website https://mon.im/bemanipatcher/. If it matches a series, it

For example, extracting LDJ-2021042600-2021070500 and upload bm2dx.dll to the bemani patcher website for game beatmania 28 shows 100% match for the game.

If you want, you can check on options you want to activate and overwrite the one in modules/bm2dx.dll file. For example, I usually check the following:

Omnimix ​

There is an Omnimix pack for each Beatmania series, which includes all the BMS from previous Beatmania series. If you installed correctly, you should see a list of music list from the past series!

e-Amusement Server ​

All Beatmania games require a e-Amusement Server to connect with when booting up the game. Luckily someone created an emulated version of it for us to use!

There are two ea-server that is used to support different beatmania version.

Omnimix ​

Download the following:

Beatmania IIDX 28 Bistrover Omnimix

Extract and overwrite all contents to your beatmania 28 folder. The content should looked like:

Create a gamestart-28-omni-spice2.bat file and copy/paste the following content.

Modify Beatmania IIDX 28\contents\dev\nvram\ea3-config.xml and change the following:

Prerequisite ​

You must set your PC Default sound settings to 44.1khz, 16bit. Otherwise the game will crash on load.

Running the game ​

To run with omnipack, run the .bat file. Else run spice64.exe

TIP

Make sure to run asphyxia-core-win-x64.exe before starting the game which will run the game server to save your progress and make Insert Card function works!

Run spicecfg.exe and be sure to set Service URL to [http://localhost:8083](http://localhost:8083) so that the game connect to the Asphyxia server that we just run.

Disable Free Mode (Enable Coin Mode) ​

By default Free Mode is enabled, you can disable it and require Coins instead. This is useful if you own an arcade machine and wanted a real arcade experience. To do so, press Test key to enter test mode and go to Coin Settings, then change Free Mode to OFF.

TIP

The base game downloaded is only 70GB and has partial match when uploading to bemanitools to check. When launching it, the game crash after pressing Start. Had to apply the update 2021101300 and overwrite all files to prevent game from crashing after pressing Start.

Omnimix ​

Extract and ovewrite all files in base game. Make sure to check Enable Omnimix settings in bemanipatcher when patching bm2dx.dll. Otherwise you will encounter SSD Music Data Error after monitor FPS check.

Use Spice2. ​

Download spice2x from https://spice2x.github.io/ since it offer UI enhancement for settings. All settings are now grouped in sections. It is a drop-in replacement for the default spice.exe that came with the game.
